The mission of the Leadership Council at Brightlight Consulting is to advance the capabilities of our service offerings, provide field level leadership and influence the culture and processes, all while supporting the corporate objectives of Brightlight to make Brightlight a national leader in delivering Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing solutions.  Brightlight's Leadership Council is comprised of some of the industry's top Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing practitioners. 

 

 

David Birmingham

David is an Enterprise Solution Architect with over 24 years experience in assessing, identifying, characterizing, designing and deploying business solutions of any scale or complexity. He has extensive experience across the entire BI/DW lifecycle and been instrumental in the architecture and deployment of numerous world class solutions across financial services, health care, retail and military applications. David is one of the world’s top Netezza experts, who is a frequent public speaker, author of the book “Netezza Underground”, and “Software Development on a Leash”, author of numerous Data Warehousing articles, the Netezza Community’s Blog “Gather ‘Round the Grill”, as well as the IT Toolbox blog “Ab Initio Underground”.

 

Prior to joining Brightlight, David was the Consulting Services Practice Leader, Data Warehouse/Architecture Solutions and VLDB (Very Large Scale Database) Practice Leader for Headstrong, a Senior Consultant with Ab Initio, and an Enterprise Solution Architect with Bearing Point and Perot Systems.

 

Gary Shaw

Gary brings over 25 years of technical leadership experience in information technology with the last ten years dedicated to Data Warehousing.  He has extensive experience in ETL architecture and design, data architecture, data modeling and database design, and support activities. Gary  has experience in eBusiness, Manufacturing, and Insurance, working with companies such as Walt Disney Internet Group, America Online, Toyota Motor Sales, Detroit Edison, and Chubb Insurance Company.  Throughout his career, Gary has developed a reputation for technical excellence in providing solutions to his clients’ business problems.  Additionally, Gary has trained and mentored numerous colleagues.

 

Prior to joining Brightlight, Gary held senior consulting roles with Knightsbridge Solutions/Hewlett-Packard and Capgemini.  At Knightsbridge Gary was a member of their Technology Office, a group of senior technologists that set technical direction for Knightsbridge Solutions.

 

Mark Aukeman

Mark is a Senior Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing Architect with over 25 years experience helping companies put their data to work. His core expertise includes enterprise dimensional data modeling, EDW solutions based on the Netezza platform, and advanced analytics / ad-hoc analysis solutions using the MicroStrategy platform. Mark has industry experience in Retail, Hospitality, Pharmaceutical, Financial, and Manufacturing, working with large enterprise accounts such as:  US Postal Service, AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, and Marriott Hotels International.

 

Prior to joining Brightlight, Mark served in lead BI consulting roles at Tandem Computers, Compaq Computers, and Andersen Consulting.

 

Karl Haberl

Karl is a Senior Business Intelligence Architect & Strategist with over 15 years of experience in business systems, data analytics, and business intelligence consulting. He has worked for a number of start-up enterprises, both in industry and in consulting organizations. For the past 10 years, Karl has led BI initiatives in manufacturing, transportation, healthcare, and high tech. Karl is a thought leader and educator in business performance visualization, analytics design, and organizational BI capability.  Karl is also an instructor on Data Visualization at the University of Washington.
 

Prior to joining Brightlight, Karl served as Principal BI Lead for an Engineering strategy group inside Microsoft.  Karl has also founded and built up successful BI practices in several other consulting organizations.

 
Frank Blau

Frank is a Senior Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing Architect with over 25 years of experience in Database design, Data Modeling and Business Intelligence consulting. He has worked for both enterprise class and independent consulting organizations.  For the past 15 years, Frank has been involved in Data Warehouse design, development and implementation in a variety of vertical markets, including e-commerce, title insurance, healthcare, manufacturing, online gaming, telecommunications and casino operations. Frank is a passionate evangelist for the implementation of best practice-based solutions and the delivery of meaningful and actionable analytics. Frank is also a sought-after public speaker on topics ranging from Business Intelligence to Mobile Device technology.
 

Prior to joining Brightlight, Frank was the Business Intelligence Technical Practice Lead for Mantis Technology Group in Kirkland, WA. In previous positions, Frank was a Senior Data Architect for First American Title Insurance and a Data Warehouse Engineer for Qpass (now Amdocs).

 

Jenny Moshea

Jenny has been a Senior Program Manager for various business intelligence and data warehousing initiatives over her 15 year career in information technology. As a Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Scrum Master, and Project Management Professional (PMP) for over 10 years, she has developed Enterprise Program Management (EPM) processes, Program Management Offices (PMO), organizational change management and training programs on a global scale for aviation, software, manufacturing, retail, insurance, financial, and health care industries. Jenny is a leader in program delivery approaches, change enablement, governance, risk management, and project recovery and execution strategies. She thrives on applying creativity and innovation in formulating plans and strategies that allow for flexibility and adaptability while driving results.

 

Prior to joining Brightlight, Jenny served as a Senior Delivery Manager and Associate Partner at a large digital marketing agency. In addition, she was Director of Project Management for Statera, a Program Manager for Jeppesen Marine and Supervisor of Consulting Services for Software Architects (now Sogeti).
